Hello San Diego!

Here's the low-down on the cross-cultural events happening in San Diego!

Tonight the opera Roméo et Juliette will be performed at San Diego Civic Theatre, and the final performance will be on Sunday. North Coast Repertory Theatre's An Iliad got underway yesterday, and performances will continue until next Sunday.

Saturday and Sunday the International Dance Association Festival will take place at the Balboa Park Club.

Tomorrow (Saturday), the Mingei will present The Women of Chicano Park spotlighting the park's earliest female muralists of Chicano Park (note the event takes place at the park). The annual Tartan Day celebration will take place at the International Cottages in Balboa Park. The San Diego Diplomacy Council will hold an On the Road Again fundraiser at Stone Brewing in Liberty Park. After a long Covid hiatus, Little Italy will resume its film screenings at the Firehouse Museum with a showing of the comedy The Salt of Life.

Sunday, there will be a Ukrainian Fundraising Luncheon at the Pushkin Restaurant. At Liberty Station there will be a Persian Sizdahbedar Celebration with music from multiple DJs. The HPR Queens will hold their annual Lawn Program at the International Cottages with music and dance from around the world. Velocity Irish Dance will perform at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts. At Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center, Home Within will be a multi-media artistic presentation by Syrian composer and clarinetist Kinan Azmeh and Syrian Armenian visual artist Kevork Mourad.

On Monday, the UC San Diego School of Global Policy and Strategy will present an online panel discussion on Sanctions on Russia: The Energy and Food Dimensions.

Tuesday and Wednesday, at Angelika Film Center & Cafe there will be a special film screening of the Verdi opera Rigoletto performed by the Royal Opera.

Wednesday, Warwick's will host Madhushree Ghosh who will talk online about her new book Khabaar. The Coronado Library will screen the recent film Belfast.

Thursday, the 21st Annual César E. Chávez Celebration will take place at UCSD's Price Center. The AfroLAtinidad Mi Casa, My City Exhibition will open at the New Americans Museum in Liberty Station. Warwick's will stream a discussion with author Leah Thomas who will talk about her new book, The Intersectional Environmentalist.

Next Friday, the three-day 15th Annual Indian Music and Dance Festival will kick off at the JCC in La Jolla.

Next Saturday and Sunday at the Exclusive Collections Gallery Solana Beach there will be a Native American Art Show.

Next Saturday, at Westview Park, Child Rights and You America will host its annual Holi Festival fundraiser. At the Central Library, there will be a discussion of the book The Tale of Kiều. At Torrey Pines High School there will be two performances of the Border Stories dance program.

Next Sunday, the 8th Annual Mariachi Festival featuring, Mariachi Champaña Nevin and Ballet Folklórico Tierra Caliente de Jose Jaimes will take place at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido. There will be another Native American Indian Flute Circle at Mission Trails Recreation Park. The animated film Encanto will be screened at the Manchester Hyatt. At the Encore Events Center, there will be Charity Concert for Ukrainian Refugees. For Mingle at the Mingei, resident musical artist group Camarada will perform their Mosaics program.
